... and some news from us

Lerbäcksbyn.....

Tina & Carin now are owners of 5 houses (!) on the farm.  Our mother lives in one of them (the big Reunion-house), Tina in one ("Dahlska"), Carin uses one as an unusually big holiday house (good old "Abel Hall" house) and the 2 others we try to rent as holidays houses (see our advert on the Lerbacksbyn homepage). Yes, this does mean we have a lot to take care of, and some trouble in finding a good balance in our economies. But, roots are strong, and our roots are just there, in the houses and in Lerbacksbyn......

Our mother....

Brita, is now 91,5 years old and still going - not very strong - but still able to live in her own house and making her coffee every day. I am grateful for each weekend I can still go to see her.

Tina lives in Lerbacksbyn, works part-time in Svenljunga and part-time gives dance lessons (circle dances).

Tandi lives in Goteborg, where she works but also studies massage therapy.

The Nyhage / Petrén-family

Elias, 17, studies natural sciences 2nd year in upper secondary school in Skene, is eager learning how to play the guiatarr, guiatarr, guiatarr....  and practices 24/24 (I love it, just a little bit less when it's the electric one at 3 in the morning....)

Daphne, 15, is just about to choose an upper secondary school programme for next year - most probably languages. She went to Eastbourne, England,  for 3 weeks on a confirmation camp in the summer of 2011 and decided she wants to have a job where whe can work internationally and abroad.

Jolina, 11, is our "baby" still, poor girl, her mother wants her to be small for many years yet. She's interested in horse-back riding and basket ball and reads books of 900 pages or so (i.e. Inheritance by Chrisopher Paolini - the Christmas book gift of 2011 (in Swedish though)).

Arthur is still working as a vet, though he could retire. He likes his work too much. I, Carin, is not so fond of working though I have nohting really to complain about at the University of Borås   It's just that I would like to have more time to realize all my dreams....... activites i Lerbacksbyn, researching (local history) & writing, travelling,.... and so on.

The musical favourites from 2011 probably were: "Our own" Daniel Norgren (produced by my nephew Pelle at his studio i Ö. Frölunda: Superpuma records ) and Elias' Christmas record played over and over again: good old Toto's Rosanna

And it seems to me the teenagers often clicked on (I suppose they were hits for the young everywhere....:) Alors on dance / Trolololo / Danza Kuduro  + plenty of good Swedish productions.

The 2011 family journey took place in October to Budapest and Szeged in Hungary, looking for the roots of Arthur's Jewish side. Also enjoying good food to very reasonable prices and lovely hot spa-baths.

Elias enjoying Hungarian food in Budapest

Daphne likes the hot cocoa in Szeged

Jolina - seriously...

Hungarians are fond of bronze statues - they are all over. We liked them too... This, we imagined, was Arthur's father drinking water on his way home from the synagogue school....
